1/ Doomy and gloomy? Try these 5 things.
…making time for stillness helps boost our resilience to life’s complicated and emotional challenges, of which there are many. This should not be a luxury, but an essential coping mechanism we teach to every child in school.
2/ Finding joy and growing where we’re planted
I may not control what’s to come, but I’ve realized the best I can do is continue to be reliable, trustworthy, agile, creative, and be willing to experiment and take ownership.
3/ How to snap out of a funk
…then make a plan. Get ruthlessly honest, stop feeding your emotional hysterics, develop a clear-minded strategy, and commit to it. Then laugh at your worries. Chuckle at the affairs of humans, and snap out of it.
4/ Becoming Debbie
The film Addams Family Values came out in 1993 when I was just six years old, but it changed how I look at feminine power, humor, and vanity license plates. It also cemented my love of Mercedes-Benz models of the 80s and 90s, the brand’s heyday.
5/ 5 practices I employ for daily contentment
Through the consistent work of journaling, reading, and seeing both a therapist and a coach, I’ve come to identify some basic daily actions that help anchor me in the present and help me avoid dwelling on the negatives.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re a ~*true fan*~.
Upgrade to paid before the end of the year to save on a monthly, annual, or founding memberships, and I’ll send you a handwritten greeting with a story about how we met, what I love about you, or how I think we could creatively collaborate in this space in 2026. The possibilities are endless…
6/ the joys of walking in cities
I bump into people I know while walking, something that’s bound to never happen alone in the car. Alienation is one of the crises facing our society—could driving be exacerbating it?
7/ How will it end?
I predict that being nice will become a superior personal and business strategy, because it will contrast so starkly with what we’ve known up to now—a culture of separation, greed, and mass manipulation.
8/ Going out & coming back
It goes without saying that geographic choice is a privilege. But among those who can choose—the young, professional, and mobile—there is a growing debate about livability. Quality of life. Value. Ease. Opportunity. Simplicity.
9/ Following my gut even when my heart hurts
I’ve learned that there’s no right and wrong, no black or white. Only trade offs and compromises. All we can do is make the best choices with our present conditions, and above all, give and accept love freely among those we encounter.
10/ Subtract to Add
Simplicity = resiliency, and resiliency may be the most powerful tool linked to survival and everyday contentment.
My gratitude and appreciation knows no bounds. Thanks for reading! -Alex
